Lady in Bed the Blog began as a place to talk about Lady in Bed, the show (see below) and has become a place where I talk about theatre in general, theatre I love (or hate) witnessing, other theatrical projects with which I become involved, as performer, director, writer, whatever and a forum for others to respond to my work or my blogs. If you would like to put a link to my blog on yours, go for it and I will reciprocate. Theatre communities are vital for our survival in a difficult environment for our craft: let’s unite, collaborate, brainstorm and give support. There IS such a thing as society.
Lady in Bed, the show, is a solo play about the erotic escapades of one woman from the mid 1970s to the present day. Written and performed by me, Alison Goldie, and directed by Laura Eades, it takes the audience on a lively and exuberant search for love and sexual adventure which echoes the experiences of so many people in the modern age. Drawing on a multitude of stories from my life, I relate and enact a selection of episodes, playing all the characters involved. The show is humorous, sometimes poignant, and is an animation of parts of a lifelong quest to understand myself and men. Audiences have responded with tremendous warmth.
